Dishwashing liquid mixed with vinegar works and must be rinsed and wiped well to prevent rusting. Heating the vinegar first (watch the fumes), helps remove oils (like nicotine).

I use a car sponge and Dollar Tree Awesome Orange, it melts it right off. Wipe and rinse.

I found the greatest way to get rid of nicotine off fridges, cabinets, walls, whatever. You won't believe it. WINDEX. I sprayed it on the cabinets after three years of smoking, just to see if it would do anything, and the nicotine started dripping off the cabinets. I just wiped with a paper towel and I couldn't believe it. The cabinets were totally white again in seconds. By the way, I have no stock in Windex. Maybe I should. I'm not sure they are aware of what their product can do. I'm going to tell them.
