How to protect my washer & dryer from rust?

My washer is kept in the garage (as is my dryer). The washer is stating to have rust spots... one directly on the face of the machine (weird?); the other by the dispenser for bleach or liquid clothes softener and at the bottom. How do I stop/prevent and hide those spots??

Clean the rust off, then paint with porcelain paint. It comes in little bottles made for appliances. When done washing & drying clothes, cover the machines with a heavy tarp.
I agree with 2dogai. I've use this paint on a bathroom before: https://amzn.to/2Ed02Qs
Appliance paint! Clean and remove rust first. Any paint store or home improvement center will have what you need. Mine are in my garage too, but I am in zone 9 where it is hot and very dry most of the year. Rusting caused by moisture.
Cindy,
You have too much moisture in your garage. Once you repaint, apply a couple of coats of car wax.
