How do I clean rust from an bath tub?
I've scrubbed it w/ brillo pads, scrub pads, brushes... to no avail.
I'm worried that if I continue scrubbing it, the rust may eventually wear out and water may leak through it
I do not want to paint it (I don't even know if that can be done to a tub).
I want to try a few more things before I decide it's time to buy a new one.

Bathtubs are made from a variety of materials, including acrylic, enamel and porcelain. That means that each tub will react differently to cleaners. For example, enamel tubs can be damaged by acids like vinegar, while acrylic tubs are prone to bleaching.

I would try a magic eraser or a rust remover such as Whink Rust Stain Remover.
There are repair kits available for every type of tub. Search online sites for "bathtub repair" and you will have multiple options for the rust. Good luck!
