How do I remove mold from fabric?

I have a stroller that was left out in the rain and now has mold on it. Any help getting the mold off? I would like to avoid harsh chemicals. I have tried a borax and vinegar mixture with no success.

Try rubbing lemon on the stroller and mix salt to make a paste. Leave on thee stroller long enough to kill the mold. Scrub of and clean with a natural soap. Allow to dry outside.

I would replace the stroller. I woudln't want a chance of mold being exposed to my little one.

It probably is not possible to do this with a stroller, but I had some boxes of material in a storage area for a long time that had gotten wet and some of the material fell apart as I pulled it out of the box.........so you know how bad the mold was. I sprayed the black mold off the still viable (or what I hoped was viable) material and then put it all in a big tub of very hot water with a huge glug of vinegar and let it sit for a couple of days. Then washed it in hot water with more vinegar in the washing machine. Some of the mold came right out........some of the material still had mold stains on it and I figured I had nothing to lose, so I washed it again on a sanitizing wash with bleach and the mold stain that was left was barely visible. I wasn't able to use it as intended, but I did donate it to a church that makes quilts for missions. Sometimes they get real heavy material in and only need a light layer in between to further stabilize it. Obviously this wouldn't work for your situation, but there might be some tips from this you could use. I did feel that using these techniques any hint of viable mold had been destroyed, otherwise I think Snapoutofit's advice above would be the next route I would go.

If cleaning doesn't work, paint it with a safe latex paint...there are lots of Hometalk posts that tell how to paint fabric. Or just paint designs where the mold stains show.

Contact the company that made it or supplied it and ask for their advice!
