Try dabbing the area with a paint solvent. Keep changing the cloth to a cleanr spot when doing this.
Is it Elmer’s glue . You can really try soaking it w/ a towel or large sponge . Or Goo b Gone ? If soaking let it set there.
Goo gone may help? It's worth a try.
If just Elmers, it will dissolve in water. Keep a warm wet sponge on it and let it soak, will take several applications.
It depends upon the type of glue. If it's a white or clear glue like Elmers, try warm water first. Start with the least caustic product first as you don't want to take the color out of or ruin your rug. Some types of spot removers may work, then wash the spot after. If you can't get the glue out, you may have to cut the rug fibers around the spot to remove the glue.
Yes to wetting Elmers Glue with hot water, then sponge it up.
