Blood requires peroxide to destroy it. Otherwise you could clean it over and over with Blue Coral carpet and upholstery cleaner until the blood is gone.
Vinegar is good for removing odors, just check on a hidden spot to make sure it doesn't change the texture or color of the fabric. Make sure it gets into the fabric well enough to really get at the odors.
Dabbing with a cloth dipped in cold water should help to remove the blood stain. Use a clean cloth and keep moving it so that you are working with a clean surface. Sprinkle with baking soda after it is dry, let sit for a while and then vacuum.
Peroxide instantly dissolves blood, but test it first to see if it stains. It can bleach dark colors. My son has nose bleeds a lot, so I have to use this trick often.
I have found the LIQUID spray oxy clean works very well on bodily fluids. Blood, vomit, etc.
