How to remove white watermarks from my kitchen melamine top

After many years of use and no watermarks I now suddenly have a couple of white watermarks on my kitchen worktop which is supposed to be waterproof. I've tried to remove it with a cloth and warm iron but it won't budge. Any suggestions?

Try rubbing in Mayonnaise it works on wood?
Don't know what color it is, but can u use touch up paint job? Then wax over it.
Watermark? Are we talking about a ring from a wet glass? Is the top melamine or is it a Formica laminate?
You could try rubbing the spot with Armoral
