I don't know homemade cleaners but FYI, never use tomato juice or Tarnx. Will ruin your silver.

I SPRINKLE TABLE SALT ON THE BOTTOM OF MY COPPER BOTTOM PAN AND THEN I PUT LEMON JUICE ON IT OR VINEGAR AND WIPE THE TARNISH AWAY. IT ALSO COMES OUT VERY CLEAN AND SHINEY WHEN I PUT IT IN THE DISHWAHSER.
My grandfather used to soak copper in ketchup. Then when you wash it off, it completely removes anything on the copper!
