That's a mold or fungus. It must be killed with bleach. It builds up from a gap in the caulk, usually. Sanitize the whole toilet or shower.

For the shower: Take off the old caulk, clean under and behind that as well as you can. Use a hair blow dryer to dry the space completely dry. Make repairs to the drywall if needed. Recaulk, making sure there are no gaps uncaulked. Let the caulk cure at least 24 hours before using the shower.

For the toilet: Plan to clean the toilet once a week. It may take twice a week. In the meantime, take off the tank lid. Turn off the water to the toilet. Drain the water by flushing. Since the water is off, the tank won't refill. Use rubber cloves and a scrubbing sponge. Clean the tank as well as you can. Pour two cups of Clorox bleach in the toilet. By that I mean, the cheaper bleach has more water than the more expensive bleach. Turn the water back on. Flush the toilet and keep your face back from fumes. But watch to make sure the parts seem to be working correctly. Replace the lid. That should prevent the pink mold if you clean regularly. Best wishes 😇

If your city/county puts chlorine in your water it's probably from that.
