I have an olf floor lamp that I had to rewire with the cord coming out of the bottom. I has bronze on the bottom and between the glass pieces aling the base. I won't be able to soak the whole thing so I am looking for something to brush/dab onthe metal

A product called "Bar keepers friend" comes in a power cleanser ( like comet) or liquid. This stuff cleans and shines. I use for my stainless steel and to clean my shower glass. Find in cleaning aisle

There's a product called 'Brasso' that is supposed to clean up things like that. I used it on brass knobs on an antique bed and found out someone in the past had pot shellac on them. It was a common practice and I never got those knobs to their original beauty. As suggested, also, Bar Keepers Friend is a good start. It can be used for so many things.

Combine equal amounts of flour and salt in a small dish, then add enough vinegar to make a paste. Smear the paste onto the bronze pieces in small crevices use an old toothbrush. Let stand for about 30 minutes. Wash the paste off under a wet sponge, then dry and buff with a clean soft cloth.

I've used naval jelly on several items and it works like a charm. It's at any hardware store.

Tomato ketchup; acid in the tomatoes does the work. Usual method of rub it on with one cloth, then polish up with another clean cloth. Best do a patch test with any method you choose, to make sure the item is not plated.
