How can I clean water deposits from my shower head?

A year or so ago, we moved from our country farm into a city fixer upper. I have noticed that my shower head has lost pressure, and upon further inspection, I noticed a white build up, and some of the holes are completely clogged.
What technique is best to clean them?

Soak it in white vinegar. Tie a plastic bag full of vinegar onto the shower head with an elastic and let it sit over night. Wipe it off the next day with a warm cloth. Works!

I did it on my guest room shower, & discovered, after forgetting about it for a very long time, that the shower head wasn't all metal. There was a fake metal look attached to the top. The vinegar cleaned up the deposits well on the plastic part of the head nicely, but it also took off the fake metal. So if you're not as old as dirt like me, & still have your memory intact, it will do a great job if you take the Baggie off the next day!! Good luck!

My mom taught me this: soak a rag in vinegar. Then wrap it around the shower head, cover with a plastic sandwich bag, tie to fasten and leave overnight. In the morning it should be easy to finish scrubbing off any residue with a brush or teflon sponge.

Use The Works Toilet bowl cleaner. Wipe on with a rag then rinse. It will eat the hard water. Don't soak it it will flake off the metal but wiping it in the holes and wiping off it will come clean. It has muraticacid it will take off any hard water. It is a weaker soultion but it will do the job.

Put CLR in a bag and tie it around the shower head (unless the head comes off). Soad overnight and the next morning it will wipe right off. If the head comes off, just soak it in a bowl of CLR.

I use CLR. I tie a baggie with full strength CLR inside to the shower head and let it sit for about 30 mins. Works like a charm.
