Our faucet has a lime build up on the plastic aerator piece which controls the flow of water. How can this build up be removed?

Unscrew it from the fixture, and clean as much as you can with a tooth brush, then soak in vinegar till clean.

Have you tried pure white vinegar.....put some in a small ziploc bag and soak it in there for as long as needed.

Vinegar works well to remove buildup. Put the vinegar into a small plastic bag and place over the faucet, tying in place with a twist tie. 20 mins should do it. Remove the bag, and scrub the aerator surface with a soft toothbrush. My faucet with build-up and this did the trick. Also works on shower heads.....good luck!

Fill a plastic zip lock bag with CLR and put the head in the bag, and tape it shut around it and let sit for a day. Then remove bag and rinse off.
