I found nail polish remover works the best.
I find lighter fluid exceptional for paper and adhesive removal. The tiny spout is great to aim and limit the liquid application. It will remove ink date stamps too!

I run them through the DW first before trying anything else. It often removes most of the label and adhesive.
soak them in hot soapy water, peel off what you can while still hot then lemon juice or lemon essential oil rub and let sit on it and it should come off with a little rubbing.
Soak in hot hot water.
