I have a neighbor who cooks at least once a week and the smell comes into my house. The smell to me is very unpleasant. Any ideas how to get rid of the smell?

do you mean smoke smell from cooking outdoors? or stinky stuff they cook in the house -- like cabbage, fish, etc ? If from outdoors - obviously keep your doors/windows closed and any fans that bring air in from the outside turned off --- but if from their kitchen ( like in an apartment house ), turn on any exhaust fans you may have -- like on your stove hood, bathroom, etc, open a window or two to the outside to bring in fresh air -- in another room from where the fans are -- you want 'cross' ventilation --- also, put white vinegar and water 1/10 in a spray bottle and just spritz the air -- that will help.

Figure how the cooking odor is coming into your house to prevent it from happening. Keep your windows closed, use your vent fan.

It sounds like you mean your neighbor cooks outside. I would close all windows and put a fan outside facing his house and turn it on when he cooks.
