I think it's brass but I'm not sure.

I’d just dust it. The tarnished look is great character!

Try this: 1 tsp salt in one cup of vinegar. Wipe clean and then buff with a dry cloth. Try this in an inconspicuous spot first.

I had a brass bed for years and always used toilet bowl cleaner. It shines it immediately. Be sure you’re in a well-ventilated place when you do it.

Try using the product called Brasso

Usually, if it's a metal object, try water and scrunched up aluminum foil or a one of those thingy's you scrub pots and pan with (what are they called?). It takes rust off metal like magic. If that's brass, try it very lightly at first, if that doesn't work, buy Brasso.

If it’s brass, the best and easiest cleaner is ketchup. Just put some on a paper towel and wipe over the tarnished area. Rinse with a clean wet paper towel or cloth. Good luck !

If you want it to look as it did originally, then all the cleaning tips are good. I cleaned mine and then sprayed it with a coat of Rustoleum's rubbed bronze. I love how it turned out. The spray paint comes in nickel and pewter, too, if you prefer the silvery tones. Post a photo of your finished project. Good luck! :-)

Yes, I also use ketchup, apply it with a soft rag, let it set and wipe off. Beautiful patina, brings out the subtle luster.

It's what is known as an "Oriental Express" lamp after the luxurious train of times gone by.

It should be brass and, in that case, I would recommend Maas Metal Cleaner. It's fabulous for all polishable metals. I have a friend who did professional silver cleaning, among other surfaces, and he turned me on to it. I will NEVER be without it.

Your lamp should look like new. My first advice would to be, first, wash it with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Apply Maas and have a new lamp.
