Its the paper and the adhesive that's smelling- scrape em out and you should be fine- if its hard to scrape, dampen the paper to help with the process ( don't soak). Good luck! (you can sand the wood down a bit after scraping the paper)
Try washing them down with white vinegar and allow to dry then place open boxes of baking soda inside.
You seal the odor with a few coats of shellac.
It's probably the paper smelling it up. Another trick you could try: fresh coffee grinds placed inside for a day or two. Good luck!
Tied and did not work. Taking paper and cardboard stuff out and smelling much better already. A lot of work doing but smell better and can use.
I have heard drying flowers inside a truck gets rid of musty smells, but I really don't know about that I have also heard baking soda is suppose to work.
If it is lined with paper or fabric , yes get rid of that first then air it out and go from there
Try the baking soda...spread around the drawer, close and leave a few days...if that doesn't do it ...Throw an unused dryer sheet in there and close it up for a few days.
USE BAKING SODA LIGHTLY WITH A CAP FUL L OF WHITE VINGER WHITE TOWEL ONLY ALLOW TO DRY AND USE HAIR DRYER FOR THE PAPER AND BACK OFF ABOUT JUST SO IT TOUCHES PAPER BUT NOT CLOSE PAPER WILL PEEL AND WILL REMOVE THE ENTIRE PAPER AND SPRINKLE MOTH FLAKES OR BALLS INSIDE AFTER IT COMPLETED
