Is there a formula to remove soot from roof shingles?

Question for you are sure that the stains are soot and not algae?

Ok So I did some researching but cannot pin point a certain solution.Maybe Im not seeing clearly. There were many sites on this particular situation. I would recommend maybe you trying to find the right search.Sorry I tried.

The only thing I have had experience with is.. the soot from the fireplace glass, and you take the ashes from the fireplace and dip a wet/damp rag into the ashes then rub on the glass and the fireplace glass is beautiful, don't know if this would apply to your situation or not?

Try TSP it is a pure cleaner and it will remove almost anything and rinse.

Scrubbing Bubbles foam has been used for years on fireplace soot...maybe it would work on the shingles too...don't leave it on too long before rinsing.
