How can I clean the aluminium back place on my fire. I have tried wiping with a few cleaners but they leave streaks! Baby oil made it worse.Bleach brought a few rust marks, and now I am stumped! Any ideas please......

I cannot see the metal area you wish to address. I have a decorative iron fireback( metal plate inside) inside my firebox and used stove black to recondition it after cleaning it. Thank you for replying.Its the aluminium that the pebbles are resting on.The back and sides by the pebbles are also aluminium and have tried most things.I bought wipes for aliminum, but they were dreadful and left streaks which I now can't get rid of.. -
