Using oven cleaner to clean nasty floor?

by Alice
I am doing some ( a lot) of work in the rental house next to my home, among other areas of filth the kitchen floor is terrible, greasy, ground in dirt etc. A friend told me that she once used oven cleaner on a gross floor in one of their rentals, that it worked like a charm leaving the floor clean and shiny. Has anyone else heard of or tried this? Did it work and not damage the floor? The floor is linoleum. Thanks!

Thanks, Janet, I was thinking about a vinegar combo but don't think it will be strong enough, will try it though and add the dish soap too.

I'd suggest you go to the automotive / shop section of any store and pick up some concentrated all purpose cleaner. They are often sold in gal. jugs. Often they are green , purple, or pink. Great on grease and heavy dirt. Goes s long way because they're concentrated. Economical too, as long as you don't mix stronger than what you need.

I would try on a very small spot first and I would make sure the room is well ventilated.

I'm sorry to hear that! Maybe a Scraper will do the job once it has been softened...
