I have used a steam cleaner for years and have clean, shiny floors!
go to Lowe's and get the cleaner they have. Forget the name, but they won't.

Bona is very good. Is available at most all home improvement stores and some grocery stores. Spray on and wipe off.
I struggled with the same issue for years. It gets frustrating trying different products all the time. I finally gave up on that idea and invested in a steamer. There are many types of steamers for sale but in the long run you will then end your use of chemicals and have clean shiny floors.
A relative of mine is in the flooring business and their company recommends (and uses) nothing but Boma. It's good for both laminate and hardwood.
I have found that by using Mr Clean all purpose cleaner it works great. Also it was recommended to me when we purchased our new RV.
