Any ideas on how to clean and use old rope lights from my patio?
I have about a good 40 feet of three year old rope lights My husband wants to put outdoor bulbs and throw these away but they still work just super dirty and don't ... See more
I use Meguirs Scratch X.
Toothpaste is said to work, but nothing helped mine.
I was told toothpaste & it works!
BTW, only white toothpaste works -- I use the $1 Colgate. Do not use gel. Rub a dab all over and then buff dry; however, it won't be long before you'll be doing it again.
Yes toothpaste does work. Get the most abrasive kind you can buy, which is Colgate Optic White. It takes a lot of hard rubbing (in circles) to get them clear again.
I did my daughters car. Used a White (not gel) toothpaste and a damp cloth. A dab of toothpaste on the cloth and rub in a circular motion a small area at a time. Keep the toothpaste moist. A separate wet cloth squeezing water as you rub. Wipe as you go along to see the progress. Once done put some paste wax over the lenses.
You could use plain white toothpaste of compound for cars to clean them.
A friend of mine used deet spray (off woods etc), sprayed it on a microfiber cloth and rubbed the lens and made them look new. Naturally it’s only a temporary fix so you’d have to do it a couple times a year or more.
