They make leaf skimmers for pools. Skim the leaves out, pull out the cover and replace it.
Get all the debris out now as the longer it is left in there, the more damage it can do.
Joy,
There is no easy way without emptying lots of water from your pool. I am not sure where you live and if your pool is in ground or above ground. If you are in a cold location where you have balanced your water for the winter and blown out your lines, you do not want to now use your pump and a vacuum to get the leaves out. You can just leave it until the spring and re-secure the cover. You can also use a wide body leaf skimmer attached to your telescoping pole. It has a flat edge in the front that will safely scrape along the bottom of your pool. This is a lot of work because it means lifting a bag full of wet leaves from the bottom of your pool over and over. You can use your brush on a pole to push them up from the bottom and have a separate pole with a leaf skimmer to grab them from the surface. Again, very time consuming and physically demanding. How many leaves are we talking about? I would be inclined to leave until you are ready to open your pool.
In the spring, use your pool vacuum, if you have one, and run your filter on by-pass or waste. You will have to keep adding water to replace what you use. The problem will be that your water is not clean and you will not be able to see the bottom. I use the method I described above to get most of the leaves out before I run my filter. Less chance of clogging a line. Once I am confident most of the leaves are out, I use my vacuum. I will not add chemicals until all debris are out and I have filtered out most of the algae and other matter.
