Prepare a mixture of half water and half vinegar.
Soak a towel in the solution.
Press the towel onto the rough spots on the window. Let it sit there for a minute or two. The acidity in the vinegar will soften the mineral deposits making it easier to wipe off. You can also try draping the towel over the window, if it will remain hanging and not fall down.
Wipe and press the towel on the window until the spots disappear. You may have to repeat the process several times until all the spots are gone.
Dry the window with a rag. You may want to shine the window with a window spray.
After following Pam's excellent directions, you can use Rainx to prevent further buildup.
IF the minerals in the water have actually etched the glass, they won't come off --
I would wash the outside windows with a good brand of windex and then use the rain protection they make for wind shields on cars on the windows affected by the sprinklers. E.p I hope this helps.
You could try Cerama Bryte cleaner it's what I use to get rid of the hard water stains on my glass shower doors. https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2020/04/how-to-clean-glass-shower-doors.html
I use the same mixture as Pam provided and the towel soaking method sounds as though it would work well. The Rainex also sounds like an excellent idea and I'm going to try it next time I wash my windows that get sprayed regularly by the HOA in a green space behind my home. When the wind blows a certain way while the sprinklers are going my windows get very spotty from the spray.
First, take an equal amount of vinegar and water and mix them together in a spray bottle. White distilled vinegar will work best for this. Then, spray the solution on your windows and let it sit for around two to three minutes. Lastly, use a gentle cloth to wipe away the cleaning solution and avoid any streaks.
