How how do I make WICKEDLY wonderful green hats?

I sure could use some advice on making headwear, from fascinators to big crazy hats, like worn by the residents of Emerald City, in the musical WICKED.
Cardboard and perhaps paint with green paint or use a nice patterned green material, the cardboad I suggested is because it is easier to use and recyclable.
Thx. I'll try that. I was also thinking of using tulle and a headband to make an over-the-top fasinator
I made an exaggerated Derby Day Hat, I used the large straw hat as my base, painted it green and then added extra large roses, which I was able to wire to the hat. Ran A ribbon through the webbing and the person was able to tie a large bow to wear the hat. Got rave reviews. I would add feathers and wiring to make swirls and I think you would have the exotic green hats!!
Don't know where you are located, but I took a class at Piecemakers in Orange Co., CA, to make fascinators. Fun! You may check into that or something near your area.
If you go to 'google' and put in 'Making Fascinators' you will find a number of tutorials on making them.
