Vintage Alphabet Letter Block Tree Ornaments
These alphabet letter block tree ornaments are a fun way to upcycle a vintage toy into treasured Christmas tree ornaments. We chose the letters that were green and red, but the blue and yellow ones would look just as nice (especially on a fun multicolor tree). Here is how we made these alphabet block ornaments from vintage wooden kids play blocks. 
BEFORE: We chose red and green alphabet blocks and plain green floral wire. Pipe cleaners would work instead of floral wire (especially if you'd like to share this activity with your kids or grandkids).
STEP 1: Drill a hole though each wooden alphabet block. We made sure to line up the hole in approximately the centre of the block. It doesn't have to be exact! We used a drill press but I think a regular handheld drill could work too.
It was helpful to have the wire with us for this step to check that the hole would be the right size. There are more close-up photos of the drilled hole on the original alphabet block ornament tutorial.
STEP 2: Cut a piece of floral wire about 8" long. Bend it into a loop shape. Floral wire that comes on a paddle (like ours) has little bends every inch or so that have to be smoothed out.
STEP 3: Feed both ends of the floral wire through the hole in the alphabet block until both ends come out of the other side of the block.
STEP 4: Bend the ends of the floral wire over to create a bit of an anchor for the hook. We had been gluing the hooks into the hole, but it didn't really seem that necessary so we removed that step.
AFTER: Here are the finished alphabet block tree ornaments! I love letter ornaments on a Christmas tree and these ones have a lovely vintage feel.
