Eating Area for my lovely dog- Any help please?

My dog has her dinner in a specific area in the kitchen next to our kitchen door. She is ok with her food but when it comes to her having a drink, the water goes everywhere and the corner plus half of my kitchen gets a good soak. I want the area to look nice and clean instead of a corner which really looks a mess. Any help please. My dog is 13 and would not be happy changing her eating area in the kitchen as she is quite set in her ways. Any help please

Why not build a 3 sided box with a bottom to fit in her eating area? It could be thin plyboard and you could put an old towel under her dishes that could be frequently changed out for washing!

Since this "box" will not have a lot of stress on it, it could be held together with glue and reinforced with strips of wood on the inside corners for securing it together with screws. This strip would not have to cover the entire corner top to bottom, just a small piece strategically placed.

Have you considered putting down a piece of non slip plastic? They have them in rolls as shelf liners at the dollar stores. You can choose your color that matches your kitchen.

We used a fabric dog dish mat under our dogs dishes. I also kept her hair trimmed shorter on her face so she wasn dripping as bad as she walked away leaving a trail. I wouldn’t go to anything too permanent as she is already 13.

I have the dish in an elevated stand that holds it - and it all sits on a pretty fake oriental rug.

My kids put a plastic drain for boots under their dogs dishes. Works well for their 2 pugs. Picked it up at a farm and garden store called Rual King. It's about 28 inches long and a foot wide.

If you get some plastic place mats, you can cut them to fit the bottom so you can pick it up to wash it...and then tack some to the sides to be wiped off!

Buy her a nice double bowl set and put an absorbent towel or rug under it. Did this with my cat, and it is very convenient. Her eating station is in the shape of a fish, made by the Amish. If you have an Amish market nr. your home bet they carry one for dogs. Cost was $30 but cute and worth it.
