How can I make nesting boxes for my chickens, using old crates.

I have 24 chickens that are starting to lay and I need more boxes for them.

Just turn the boxes on their sides and put in some straw. The can be stacked like stair steps. Actually, just about anything can be used as nesting boxes. I've used those orange 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot with straw inside. You do not need a box for each chicken. Some like to roost in weird places. They liked an old ladder I had placed in their coop.
OLD CRATES WORK GREAT BUT MAKE SURE YOU LOCK THE DOOR AT NIGHT.
