I just bought garage door magnets off amazon. Super fast and easy way. Maybe popping out plastic insert or painting the door might be good.
large potted plants
We put carriage lights.
Nice big pots. In the summer you can plant colorful annuals, for the winter, inexpensive dwarf evergreens. If you’re summer all year long, two square planting boxes to hold a bit of trellis and a local climbing flowering plant. If you’ve an incredibly green thumb, some folks offer their climbers encouragement across the top of the garage door. Gorgeous, but not in NJ.
You can simplify by getting a couple of big hooks and just do hanging baskets, but they’re depressing in winter.
Get a couple of Grecian type urns (less expense and less heavy made of resin) and put a small topiary in each one with some ivy around the bottom. Very little upkeep. I am enclosing a photo of my urn.
It has 2 Cora Bell plants an I scattered a small pot of ivy around it. It survived several freezing days and 2 snows...second photo shows it coming back this spring...it is still very beautiful!

I like to have natural things by my home. I would put in some small evergreens and some flowers around them. And a few solar lights around the edges. Maybe put in some kind of edging to define the garden areas.
