You could try grouping like with like. All Santas in one area, snowmen in another. you could also group ornaments by color. I find less is more, that some non-decorated areas make the decorations stand out more.
Find a theme and go with it, such as; color, items (Santa, snowmen, religious)
This year I have gone totally minimalist with my decorating. I have put a couple strings of lights on an arborvitea we planted a couple years ago, and inside I have one tall, narrow pre-lit tree with a cute country type skirt. No ornaments, possibly a topper if I can find a simple enough one. I think I just don't feel like sorting through totes of decorations this year!
Focus on a tree and the kitchen. Or the front door, and candles inside. Or the walkway and mantle. If that hasn’t stressed you out, try one more area. But keep a notebook of ideas and sketches for next year. One project a week is enough unless you have lots of help. 😇
Focus only in main areas (dining room, family room, kitchen...) foyer and front door. If you feel inspired then add touches in other rooms.
