I had a friend who was a dress designer. She made me a set of napkins, tablecloth and I think place mats once. The napkins were two different fabrics with top stitching near the edges. I made my daughter placemats and napkins with just a simple turn under edge I collect linens and there are so many beautiful napkins to be bought, antique and new, that I would not make any anymore unless such a unique fabric could be used. -

Old sheets are great. make a pattern from brown paper bag then zig zag or finish edges. -
