Irene...We have a huge framed picture behind and above a bed w/o the headboard and it looks pretty much like a headboard. Might check antiques stores or yard sales...can possibly pick one up for a small cost. Good luck

I bought a used wooden headboard at St Vincent's resale and mounted it to the wall behind the bed. It appears to be part of the bed while being mounted securely to the wall.
