How to decorate with a long shelf above a bed?

How can i use a long shelf on the wall above my platform bed with no headboard? Thanks

If you do not live in earthquake country, use as a picture ledge and line up anything decorative that enhances your decor.
I love using pothos plants because they vine down.

They also do really well in a wide variety of light conditions and don't need a ton of watering.
