Trish: I had a major Command Strip picture disaster this week... glass and frame all over the place. Here's where I went for help:

Thanks for answering. I had disaster this weekend too. My problem is the wall behind my wood burning stove is fake stone. You can’t hammer into it and it’s rough and uneven. Command strips and hooks will only hold a short while because it can’t attach evenly.
I drill pilot hole and add nail or screw if possible.
Thanks
Run a wire across the back of the picture then you can adjust until level. Apply a small amount of poster putty on each corner to hold in place when level.
Heavy Duty Sticky Back velcro works too.
These are the best things i've found. Use two of the hooks a few inches apart and your pictures will always be straight.
If your frame is wooden attach a wire from side to side about a third of the way down from the top of the frame, using the gold things called D rings. https://www.frameiteasy.com/learn/picture-frame-hardware-guide/
Hi! Try adding a wire to the back of the frame and also place some felt pads to the bottom corners of the frame to move it a bit forward. Check out how it looks here: https://framedandmatted.com
Hi Trish, hope this helps you out. They don't use nails and will work on an uneven surface,

Use Nails expecially for picture hanging, available a diy stores etc.
You cannot use command strips on a textured wall. The adhesive will not stick to the wall and the strip will eventually fall off. If you want to hang something on a textured wall, you will need to use nails or another type of hardware.
