That depends on the lampshade style, and what material it is made out of.

I have a lamp shade that is wood and glass, unfortunately it was too short and the bare bulbs were exposed, so I glued 3" long fringe to it and now is much better.
You could recover it with new fabric, cover it with doilies, or decoupage it.

Hello. Depending upon your lampshade you might consider painting it. I have used to spray paint on paper type shades.
