Whatever you choose to do... it must be ventilated at the base... propane is heavier than air (unlike natural gas) and you do not want fumes to pool at the ground level and create an explosion hazard... plus the propane delivery company will need good access to fill and maintain it.Helpful Reply -

Put fence panels around it. Hide it behind shrubs. A few Korean Lilac bushes would hide it well in just a few years. They are miniature lilac bushes that grow fast and flower profusely in the spring. They grow about 5 feet tall and 6 feet around.Helpful Reply -

Find out if the gas company will allow you to paint it green, brown, or camouflage. If not, you just need a fence that is 4’6” long, 4’ wide. You only have to put the fencing on the sides you want hmidden. The gas company must have easy access to the tank. Another way is to put up two sheets of lattice, side by side, and plant several rose bushes in front. You can brace the lattices with broad beams at the bottom and a thin board across the top and middle. You could expand this as far as you like across the fron and sides (and back), as long as the propane deliverer (or you) can get to the tank. I’d love to see this on Hometalk.com. ☺️Helpful Reply -

Add extensions to the legs of two of the panels and cement them into the ground. Affix a Long L- pin to the third panel so it can be just lowered and stuck in the ground but allows the third panel/door to swing when you need to access the tank. Pretty basic, but effectiveHelpful Reply -

Lattice panel screens often can be a great alternative.https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&hl=en-us&biw=768&bih=922&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=VZrwWv6RHIml_QbdtqXABA&q=utility+lattice+privacy+screen&oq=utility+lattice+privacy+screen&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-img.3...31388.36712..37106...0....94.1178.18......0....1.........0j30i10j35i39j0i13j0i67.mJFOYNJOAnk%3DHelpful Reply -

Well, the responsible answer to your question would be "no." Nobody associated with the propane company or anyone in an official capacity would condone your hiding the tank because, in the event of a fire or other emergency at your house, the firefighters need to be able to see immediately that you have a propane tank and where it is located. That said ... I had a particularly ugly one, and I painted it. It is a solid light green color that makes it blend as closely as possible with the grass around it. You can clearly see that it's there, but it doesn't look bad at all. (It was light blue and red before and was really peeling and ratty looking.) Of course, this is only an option if you own your tank.I had intended to build a fence right up around it, and I called the company to ask about doing that, and that's when I found out they REALLY do not want you to hide it. They actually don't want you to paint it either, but if it's your tank, you can do what you want with it.In my part of the world, some people paint them decoratively (or tackily, depending on your POV), like watermelons or cows or whatever.Helpful Reply -
