I am interested in decorating my dining and living room with a nautical look. I have a lovely collection of shells and starfish .Perhaps I could do something with a net and also 2 white shelves to display against an existing navy marine wall?

Without pictures it's hard to get a feel for your space. Do you have neutral colored sofa and dining chairs. Do they reflect a time period, you can make almost anything work but not enough information. If you have navy walls and you like white that's a great start. If you have old net that's awesome with seashells. Free!! Do you have a fire place? What's the focal point in your room? Maybe you can start small and sprinkle little touches here and there. Do you have photos of you at beach? You can have it blown up at FedEx and now almost free art. Work some rope around the top of your table lamps not much just a few twirls maybe hang a starfish from it. If you are into it learn to make different knots with rope and frame them. Just some ideas, hope it helps.

Thank you for your help. My living Area is longer than wider so unfortunately the focal point is the television but my navy wall is on the narrow side so when people enter they won’t notice it until they are in the room. Unfortunately the TV can’t be moved. However when sitting the wild factor may still be the wall.

I love high contrast and navy walls are beautiful. I would buy a piece of picket fence from HD or Lowes, cut it to the size you want and white wash it. Weather it as id it had been at the beach. Hang netting over part of it. Place a sign and shells, etc. on the netting. You can put small bottles of sand, pictures, etc. etc. on the netting and fence.

Sounds a great idea! Loop the net between the shelves and decorate with your items.
