Please, take off the old wallpaper first! The link to Wikihow is a good one. And remember, pre-pasted wallpaper is your friend.
please remember to re-size the wall for wallpapering. This will be a lot easier when its time to take that wallpaper down!
I haven't done any in a long time, but I like to start behind the entrance door, where it doesn't show as much, until I get the hang of it (pardon the pun ).
Begin where there is a straight line. Next to a doorway or a window. Be sure to use a level. Old houses very seldom have anything straight. Some newer homes may not be straight either. When I wallpaper I use a level with each strip that I hang. When you get to an inside corner you may not be able to continue around the corner without wallpaper wrinkling so go around the corner about 2-3 inches and trim. Then take the next strip and begin in the corner. Will need to use special glue for vinyl wall paper when you need to overlap or it won' t stick. Very important to follow instructions on the wall paper package. Useful tools include wide putty knife and untility knife that has blades that you can break off. Important to keep a sharp knife edge. If your wall paper has a horizontal pattern you will need to keep this pattern going perfectly horizontal all the way around the room-use your level! Good luck!
You have to get a plumb line and snap ec.. Corner. This will save you a ton of time.if ec. 11st pc is stright then the rest goes up easy
Yes, snap a plumb line in the middle of the wall and then you know your first piece of wall paper will be straight. (even though the wall may not be) Starting at a door or a corner is okay as along as you use the plumb line to see if all is straight but will be harder.
Start in the corner that is the least seen, use a plumb bob(line), make sure to match patterns before you cut pieces, size the wall, have a sharp knife to cut along ceiling and baseboards, wipe wallpaper carefully to remove extra glue, take your time. Good luck!
