Can I use old school paneling horizontally to look like shiplap?
I bought a mobile home on some land that will be a temporary home while I build (probably 3-5 years). So, I don’t want to put a lot of money into it because I’d rather save for my dream home. The bathroom has gypsum board that looks like flowered wallpaper. Do you think I could put up old school paneling running horizontally and prime it to get a faux shiplap look??

Perhaps if none of the walls is longer than 8 foot length of a panel. Not much room in a small bath to swing around big panels. If wall is longer, you will have an ugly vertical 4 foot seam. You can buy thin smooth paneling and cut into strips....then the vertical seams are staggered. Also think about how much plumbing you need to cut around. By cutting into "planks" it is much easier to get around pipes, sinks, etc.
Hi, Yes you can put the paneling over the gypsum board, just make sure you attach the paneling to the wall studs so it will not tear anything down. Good Luck!
Sure can! Use some paneling glue and nails. Locktite Power Grab is a great adhesive for that.
You could paint it and draw lines on it to make it a faux shiplap. Or here is an idea I found for you to do it fairly cheap. Hope this helps Gayla: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/build/walls/gorgeous-shiplap-at-a-fraction-of-the-price-22724489
