Do you want to hide the carpeting of the color of the carpeting? If it is just the color paint it.

Hi Marsha, the easiest would probably be to paint it. Chalk paint should work. If you're not keen on painting the carpet, perhaps you could hand some curtains from the ceiling to the floor to "hide" the carpet.

Honestly would pull it down. Carpet can absorb any odors, damp, etc. Then I would plan a new wall.

I found, with some limitations of my own, it was easier to cut carpet in sections. Then it easier to roll and dispose of. All you need is a sharp utility knife, some gloves, a staple puller if there's staples and some garbage bags. Use a step ladder if you have to reach. Pace yourself and get help if it's available. The dust bothered me, so you might need a dust mask. Good luck!

I would remove the carpet from the wall and then panel or paint.

I would cut it down and resurface with drywall, corkboard or pegboard to hold your supplies, or floating shelves.

  • Hi, Marsha!

The best bet is to remove the carpet and add shelving or decorative wall art, as suggested above!

Do you know how it is adhered to the wall? It might be tacked onto the wall. If so you might be able to pull it off and paint the wall.
