How can I wainscot my living room walls?

How can i get a wainscotting look without using full wood on the bottom of my wall? So can i get that look with just the drywall showing?

You can paint the lower section of your wall with a darker/lighter color and then add a chair railing to separate the lower part from the upper part. The picture is an example--you don't have to add the wood the same way--you may only want the chair rail.
