It can be done, the method I use, is scribe and cope, there is a lot to it. If you can find a carpenter willing to show you how to do what needs to be done.

yes it can be done, but if you do it yourself, prepare to have a lot of waste, it is very tricky, especially in the corner angles.

I personally think crown molding is a pain in the butt to install and way over priced. I use decorative trim work, and stack with chair rail. I also use plastic trim if you are able to use white, so no painting and easy to keep clean, the below is one of my favorites from Home Depot.

You can, but why add such a traditional molding to a fabulous contemporary. If you do it, you really should get a compound miter saw (rent, buy or borrow). You are going to have lap joints as well as compound miters. You could do a fake at the top of the wall, by coming down 4 to 6 inches and adding white trim molding and then painting the space between the molding and the ceiling white. It would give you the same thick white line at the top of the room without the hassel.

Of course you can add crown molding anywhere in any room but it will change the room. I agree with previous statement the look you have going is minimal and contemporary and crown molding is exact opposite it's bulky heavy and traditional. Will you be keeping those gorgeous planks on ceiling? And have you thought about how you will include molding on the beam?

We replaced the fiberboard cathedral ceiling in our seasonal 1986 mobile home with tongue and groove and used 1x2 inch wood furring strips for the trim around the ceiling. Cheaper than crown molding and a piece of cake to cut with a simple miter saw.

Yes it can but turn it upside down versus the other way it will look like it's supposed to be there and it will look so much better
