Do you need to put plastic under plank laminate flooring?

    You need to use the manufacturers recommended underlayment for the laminate. Otherwise it can void any warranty.

    When we did ours, we put down a thin padding and it was already in pieces to just lay on the floors. It was nice not to have to unroll large rolls. It had a shiny side like foil. The pieces are about 4 feet long by a couple of feet wide. Saved a lot of time and struggle. You really should put down the padding so if your base floor gets damp it won't make the laminate curl up. Especially on concrete slabs.
