What should I do about missing pieces in wood floors?
I was hoping to refinish my wood floors and stripped off the cheap fake stuff the previous owners thought looked good and this is what I found!! Should I get someone to piece them and refinish or just go over with the new vinyl wood everyone is putting in? I really love the look of real wood floors

WOW, what a challenge!
We had a similar siituation on our front porch that was decided by the rain that got on it, we had to replace.
If you have enough to piece together then go for it, more than likely you do not have enough for this project from what is left over...the good wood vs the discarded. If you have enough to do the whole floor, then do it, if not then replace. Best to you.
Personally, I would want to save the original floor, Bonnie. Check salvage yards for wood flooring and/or consult a professional floor refinisher.
I would have repaired and refinished. If repair is too costly, look at putting I a new wood floor. Wood floors always increase property value as does ceramic .
You won't be able to fix what is left of the hardwood floor. It looks pretty bad. You can either get other vinyl flooring or invest in the real thing.
I agree with Shore grandmom. There is a lot of bad damaged flooring. Know why it was covered up. Trying to find flooring of the same size would be a challenge. The work involved would be extensive and time consuming. Flooring has come a long way. Shop around and see what is available. Cheaper to replace.
