How do I remove mortar from the backer board.

I removed the tile from the floor and the mortar is stuck on pretty good. How do I go about getting it off. Shy of sanding, making a big mess and killing myself in the prose. Thank you

The easiest way is remove the backer board and lay new. SORRY -

Leave it to soak in soapy water for at least a week to soften - use a wallpaper scraper. -

Honestly, we just got new flooring a bout 4 months ago and they put the new sub floor right over the old lino and subfloor or you could try what the dude in the video is doing..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD41Hjqrk6c![]()
