Not hard if you are thinking of laminate. Just make sure you use an underlayment first.

if true wood floor it will need a subfloor so the wood can be nailed into it. Then there is sanding, staining and putting on a protective coating such as polyurethane. Then every few years you need to sand, stain and reseal. And you really have to be careful in bathrooms and kitchens because water swells wood.
butyou may wish to look at vinyl plank flooring (it's nothing like regular vinyl flooring. )
We just installed vinyl planking (looks like wood) installs like laminate (click and lock) feels like wood. You can even get it with high gloss or matte finish. the one I got from Home Depot does not require underlayment and is 100% waterproof. And has a lifetime warranty for residential.
We installed in 2 bedrooms, one for my dad who is incontinent and our room which has a door from the pool... hence the need for being waterproof. But everyone who has seen it thinks its an expensive wood floor and wonders how we could afford it. . It was $1.79 sq ft. We installed one room ourselves and had someone do the other room. install runs 50 cents to $1.50 a s.f. Ours was $1.00 s.f.
Thias sounds like what we are looking for! Thank you very much!
He is 81 and I am 80 - so we need to get the "easiest" flooring to keep clean!
It's not hard at all, but cutting the wood is time consuming. I do suggest that you use Liquid Nail instead of the goop they sell at the home improvement stores - that stuff is messy!
