DIY Area Rug

You can use duct tape on the backside of smaller rugs to "glue" them together in the design of your choice or use strong fishing line to "sew" them together.

DIY Area Rug
Depending on the type of rug you purchase from them you can combine them by sewing them together. It won't work well on a rubber back rug however.
I have seen them sewed together. Using yarn or thick string and a large needle.

Just line them up and stitch them together with carpet thread. It is much stronger than regular thread.
I would sew them together with a heavy duty thread on my sewing machine, be careful if you intend to use this as a rug, it will not stay well on a rubber non-slip pad. It would make a decorative wall hanging or a beach pad.
