My house is on a slab. I need to put hardwood floor down.

The floor has glued padding from a rug , how is the best way to do my project.

    Most of the adhesives used are water based. Cod water will not work, but boiling water can. Pour it on and wait about an hour and test it, if you have some success repeat. Please be safe, use something like a tea kettle to transport the water and pour it without splashing. You may have to score the padding like you would to remove wall paper. Good luck

    James has a great solution. Use an ice scraper or a 6" wide putty to scrape off.

    Ugh! I scraped off over 900 square feet of that dreaded black foam stuff from an outdoor carpet that had been glued down on the subfloor and used as carpet underlay in our cabin. The only thing that worked was a floor scraper tool. It was tedious but we got it all off. Good thing it was starting to disintegrate.


    Once you get it up make sure that whatever flooring you use has a subfloor with air pockets built-in or you will have to install a separate one. You don't want to ruin wood flooring with black mould that can develop underneath as the concrete's moisture level will be constantly changing.
