What can I do for a ceiling that i have scraped the popcorn coating on

I scraped off the popcorn spray from my living room ceiling and found it was to damaged to just paint. The ceiling is vaulted and in a horribly blemished condition. I have thought about re-spraying popcorn but hate the thought. The room is going to be Cape Cod beach house décor .... I am 65 and want to do something that I would be capable of accomplishing. This ceiling has been stripped bare for 2 yrs now Help need ideas!!

You'd have to give it a quick drying skim coat and then you can paint it. I'm enclosing a video for you to look at, as i'm not sure you want to take this task on by yourself.. or maybe you would! Good Luck and would love to see the finished ceiling when you complete it.
if the sheetrock is just stained and not physically damaged - holes, tears in the surface, etc., use a KILZ Primer ( covers water, etc., stains and prevent them from bleeding thru ); then paint ... of hire a 'sheetrock' person to patch the ceiling. IF the entire piece of sheetrock in cracked, it should be replaced
You could use beadboard or even ceiling tiles
