What flower would survive in full sun? I have 2 planters on both sides of my front door but had a hard time getting something to make it through the hot summer with full sun all day.

Try Lantana which is more heat tolerant.

Yes, Lantaan is an awesome sun worshipper and very heat tolerant. I have a lot of petunias on each side of our garage that do very well in the full sun. However about the middle of August, they start to poop out. I live in Missouri.

Does that mean that you only really have them for the summer months?

Verbena is my surprise sun-lover! I picked up a pot of them because they were a delicious, rich, royal red and I couldn't resist them...didn't even look to see where they needed to go. And they bloomed right through the summer and into the fall and even some in early (California) winter. And now, here they are: I didn't realize they are perennials, and I am so pleased to see them filling up my barrel this spring with that lovely red! They are in a barrel planter, in full sun, and not close to a hose at all...I am fairly lazy about taking care of my plants, and try to bring them water when I think of it...and still they present me with their charming blooms! Ah, Nature!

Geraniums are great in pots. My mom grew them in Texas. Also try Blanket flowers.

Hi Cori. Yes, petunias are annuals. I had begonias when we lived in Texas and they came back year after year and loved the sun.

Yes I bought some begonias so will try them. And maybe a few petunias too. Thanks everyone.
