    hostas and day lilies. Very hardy and forgiving if you forget to water them.

    Native to your area plants....I'm on the Great Plains....liatris, prairie primrose, sun flower,astores, foxglove, bee balm, black eyed Susan, blazing star.buttercup,cranes bill, evening primrose, 4 o'clock, wild geranium, Stay away from the hemp plants...wild licorish.lobelia, mints, prairie onion, phlox, roses, snow on the mountain, tall wormwood, yarrow. Over the years on 3 different properties I've planted them all.

    Hostas like shade. Day lilies are great, just be prepared to split them every 1 - 2 years. They are great starter plants. Hope this helps.
